Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a junior to mid-level instrumentation and controls engineer to contribute to energy and power projects. You will design instrumentation and control systems, develop specifications, and collaborate with multiple geographies for large power facilities.

The role emphasizes commissioning, client engagement, and mentorship within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team. The position offers a hybrid work model and opportunities across Jacobs office locations nationwide.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
2+ years design, consulting or operations experience in instrumentation and controls.
Experience with instrument specification, PLC/DCS control systems, P&ID development, and SCADA networks.
Experience with industrial DCS/PLC logic, graphics, and hardware implementation.
Experience commissioning control systems and troubleshooting to maintain high availability.
Proven ability to engage with clients, develop relationships and win work.
Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff; strong communication and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

Prepare specifications and drawings for instrumentation and control systems.
Specify instruments (pressure, flow, transmitters, switches, valves) for large projects.
Design SCADA/OT networks including DCS/PLC servers, switches and firewalls.
Collaborate with other disciplines on large design projects.
Contribute to proposals and client relationships; support business development.
