Job Duties

Each department maintains an ongoing search to serve as a pool of potential instructors. If hired from this pool, the instructor will be under the general supervision of the relevant department chair and will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Responsibilities include preparing for and holding classes (face‑to‑face, hybrid, and/or online), maintaining currency in the content area, evaluating student work, assessing student outcomes, providing substantive feedback, maintaining appropriate records, holding office hours, and potentially advising students or providing service to the department. Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Facilitate classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance.
• Develop instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course.
• Serve as an initial point of contact for students regarding specific course content and expectations.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a field appropriate to the department, or significant progress toward a doctorate, or in rare circumstances post‑baccalaureate certification or licensure, or a baccalaureate plus experience as appropriate for the teaching position. Depending on the program, specific certification, licensure, or clinical experience may be required.
