Job Duties

Each department at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse maintains an ongoing search to serve as a pool of potential instructors for program needs. The instructor, if hired from this pool, will be under the general supervision of the relevant department chair and is responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Responsibilities include:

• Preparing for and holding classes (face‑to‑face, hybrid, and/or online)
• Maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment
• Evaluating students’ work and assessing student outcomes
• Providing regular and substantive feedback on student work
• Maintaining appropriate records
• Holding office hours
• Advising students and/or providing other service to the department, as required
• Other duties may be assigned by the chair or dean

This role is within the College of Science & Health (CSH) at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Facilitate classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
• Develop instructional design and curriculum relevant to the course of instruction
• Serve as an initial point of contact for students regarding specific course or series content and expectations

Required Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in a field appropriate to the needs of the department, or significant progress toward a doctorate degree, or in rare circumstances, post‑baccalaureate certification or licensure, or a baccalaureate plus experience, which can be established as appropriate qualifications for the teaching position
• Depending on the program, specific certification/licensure or clinical experience may be required
• Legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term
