Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing seeks an Instructor and/or Assistant Professor for the Traditional Undergraduate Program. The role supports teaching across didactic, clinical, laboratory, simulation, and online settings, while engaging in curriculum planning, academic advising, and professional development.

Ideal candidates hold an MSN, an active Texas RN license (or transferability), and at least two years of clinical experience.

Qualifications

• MSN from an accredited university.
• Current RN license in Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.
• Two years of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintains academic standards as established by the school and the university.
• Teaches students in online, clinical, laboratory, and classroom settings.

Position Description

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School ofNursing is dedicated to training knowledgeable, compassionatenurses and nurse practitioners to meet the critical nursingshortage in West Texas and across the nation. For over 40 years,the School of Nursing has educated new nurses, strengthened thecareers of experienced nurses, and prepared innovative nurses tobecome leaders in health care.

The Instructor and/or Assistant Professor in the TraditionalUndergraduate program supports the mission of TTUHSC School ofNursing through excellence in teaching, service, and scholarlyengagement. Faculty members in this role support the TraditionalUndergraduate Program by delivering high-quality instruction indidactic or clinical, laboratory, simulation lab, and onlinesettings, while participating in curriculum planning, academicadvising, and professional development. Contributes to the program,school, and university committees associated with professionalstatus.

Major/Essential Functions

• Maintains academic standards as established by the school andthe university.
• Teaches students in online, clinical, laboratory, and classroomsettings.
• Assumes responsibility for and/or participates in the planningand organization of courses to which assigned.
• Provides academic advising/counseling to assignedstudents.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluationof school, program, course, and student activities.
• Plans professional development activities for self, such ascontinuing education offerings, workshops, professional meetings,etc.
• Participates in the development of curriculum.
• Participates in program, school and university committees, andin other activities associated with professional status.
• Maintains membership in and participates in professionalassociations by serving on local/state committees of professionalorganizations.
• Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in online, clinical,classroom, and laboratory teaching.
• Participates in teaching activities according to Instructorrank.
• Displays a scholarly orientation to the assumption of theresponsibilities of a university faculty member as defined in theGuidelines for Qualification of Faculty Appointment Rank.
• Performs other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

• Masters of Science in Nursing from an accrediteduniversity.
• Current RN license in the State of Texas or have the ability totransfer your license to Texas.
• Two years of clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching in a higher education/clinicalsetting.
• Three years of experience in curriculum development.
• Active membership in and participates in professionalassociations by serving on local/state committees of professionalorganizations
