Job summary

Galena High School is seeking an Instructional Paraeducator to support students with special needs in regular education classrooms and resource settings. You will assist with instructional plans, monitor behavior, and help implement IEP goals under supervision of a Special Education Teacher.

The role covers Early Childhood to Secondary settings, including students with mild to moderate disabilities, and requires teamwork with staff and community agencies.

Qualifications

• Adhering to safety practices and using district-approved crisis intervention techniques.
• Operating standard office equipment and relevant software applications.
• Preparing and maintaining accurate records.
• Understanding instruction procedures and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Adapt and provide accommodations for classroom activities to support students in general education and resource activities.
• Aid students in and out of the classroom and support social development.
• Assist students with personal care needs to enable participation in the school environment.
• Participate in trainings to meet state requirements.
• Collaborate with staff to share progress information and support IEP goals.
• Create visual aids for students with visual impairments to aid learning.
• Implement educational and behavioral programming under supervision to develop new skills.
• Assist in managing challenging behaviors in line with school policies.
• Instruct students in activities to meet IEP goals in various settings.
• Maintain instructional materials and data sheets to track progress.
• Monitor students in different environments to ensure a safe learning setting.
• Help establish a positive learning environment and respond to student needs.
• Demonstrate good interpersonal relations with paras, professionals, and community partners.
