Job summary

USD #499 Galena Middle School is seeking an Instructional Paraeducator to assist in supervising and instructing students with special needs in regular and resource settings. The role involves implementing IEP-driven plans, monitoring behavior, and reporting progress under the direct supervision of the Special Education Teacher.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and 48 college hours or a qualifying score on Master Teacher Online Exam within the first 90 days of employment.
20 hours per year of in-service training are required. All paraeducator positions are non-exempt, at-will positions.

Responsibilities

Adapts and provides accommodations of classroom activities under teacher direction for students with special needs.
Aids students in and out of classroom to support needs and social growth.
Assists students with personal care needs to support participation in the general education setting.
Collaborates with staff to support student progress as outlined in the IEP.
Implements educational and behavioral programming under supervision of certified staff.
