Job summary

Kennedale ISD seeks an experienced Instructional Coach for Elementary Math & Science to support campuses across the district. Lead job-embedded professional development, observe teachers, coach and model effective strategies to boost student learning.

Under the Director of Instructional Services, you will collaborate with district staff to analyze data, plan targeted instruction, and sustain HQIM curriculum implementation across grades.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
Master’s degree preferred.
Master Math Teacher preferred.
Texas state teacher certification in applicable grades.
Texas state teacher ESL certification or endorsement/supplemental.
Texas state teacher certification (or 18 college hours) in applicable content area.
Minimum five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
Instructional coaching experience preferred.
Curriculum implementation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators.
Assist with meeting identified district and school improvement goals.
Conduct observations and provide mentoring, coaching, modeling, and feedback related to instruction.
Facilitate, train, and support ongoing campus and district professional development.
Assist staff with gathering and analyzing assessment data to identify learning concerns.
Stay current on research-based instructional strategies and best practices.
Work with staff to set instructional goals and methods per district requirements.
Communicate and demonstrate effective instructional practices and model engaging lessons.
Participate in district and campus goal/plan setting and curriculum implementation.
Assist in selecting instructional materials and maintain district pacing documents.

Job Description

Primary Purpose

The elementary instructional coach is a highly qualified educator who is knowledgeable about curriculum and instruction and can increase student learning by fostering instructional excellence. Under the direction of the Director of Instructional Services, the instructional coach supports staff at multiple campuses and will engage in the delivery of job-embedded professional development, including facilitating campus PLCs, observing teachers, coaching, and modeling instructional strategies, and providing feedback to ensure effective instruction and student learning.

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

Certification Requirements: Texas state teacher certification in applicable grades

Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of coaching cycle
Knowledge of HQIM curriculum

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators.
Assist with meeting identified district and school improvement goals.
Conduct observations and provide appropriate mentoring, coaching, modeling, and feedback related to the implementation of instruction that meets district-wide expectations.
In collaboration with the Director of Instructional Services, facilitate, train, and support ongoing campus and district professional development.
Assist campus and district staff with gathering, examining, and analyzing formative and summative assessment data to identify learning concerns for individual students and groups of students. Provides coaching support that is responsive to the identified needs of staff.
Keep current on research-based instructional strategies and best practices emphasizing student engagement and learning.
Work with members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices, and plan and model engaging lessons, strategies, and effective classroom management that result in increased student performance.
Participate in teacher, campus, and district goal/plan setting.
Assist with teacher lesson planning and facilitate the implementation of curriculum.
Support the maintenance of district curriculum and pacing documents/calendars.
Assist in selecting books, learning manipulatives, and other instructional materials as assigned by the Director of Instructional Services.
Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and other required documents.
Collaborate with CSS instructional coordinators and directors.
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with students, colleagues, and community members.
Be available by phone, e‑mail, or video conferencing to confer with district personnel during scheduled work hours.

Professional Growth and Development

Research, provide content knowledge, and prepare materials for the use by the district, departments, schools, and teachers, including:
- Teaching strategies
- Assessment of mathematics skills
- Interpretation of assessment results
Research and provide information and guidance regarding a range of effective and innovative content instructional practices through various activities such as:
- Individual discussions (informal and formal)
- Coaching sessions
- Demonstration lessons with pre- and post‑discussion analysis
- Study groups
- Staff meetings
- Professional development programs
Maintain paperwork consistently, appropriately, and in a timely manner.
Coordinate/facilitate instructional material pilots in assigned content areas.
Maintain the confidentiality of schools, teachers, and classrooms.
Obtain prior approval from the Director of Instructional Services before distributing written communication.
Consult and collaborate regularly with district-level personnel regarding issues related to student success.
Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Attend and participate in district and campus meetings and serve on committees as outlined by the Director of Instructional Services.
