Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support classroom teachers across elementary, middle, or high school settings. This role involves assisting with instruction, reinforcing skills, and preparing instructional materials to aid student learning.

The IA will work Monday–Friday on site, collaborating with staff to ensure a safe, engaging classroom environment and to support diverse learners.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• See Education and Training requirements for TITLE I schools.
• Six semester hours of coursework in childhood education, OR two years of work experience in a childhood setting.

Responsibilities

• Supports instructional activities and classroom management for teachers.
• Prepares materials and ensures resources align with lesson plans.
• Maintains a safe, encouraging, and healthy environment for students.
• Participates in staff development and ongoing professional growth.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information in line with FERPA.
