Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers in delivering instruction and maintaining a safe, encouraging learning environment. The IA assists with lesson activities, prepares materials, and works with students individually or in groups across elementary, middle, or high school settings.

The role requires strong MS Office and Google Apps skills, collaboration with staff, and adherence to FERPA.

Qualifications

• MS Office proficiency and Google Apps for classroom and admin tasks.
• Knowledge of instructional delivery methods and core subjects at the assigned grade level.
• Ability to work with diverse student backgrounds and learning styles.
• Respect for FERPA and student privacy across systems and records.
• Ability to collaborate in a team and communicate with staff, parents, and community.
• Ability to motivate students and maintain safety and well-being.
• Ability to implement academic and behavioral interventions as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support and assists teachers in classroom activities.
• Aids in planning, organizing, evaluating activities, and preparing materials.
• Demonstrates professional skills to support the school program.
• Works with individuals or groups in different classrooms as needed.
• Participates in district staff development and ongoing professional growth.
• Maintains a positive disposition and good judgment with students.
• May perform vision and hearing screenings and record results.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
