Job summary

Butte County's Juvenile Hall kitchen is seeking Cook I/II to prepare, cook and serve meals to inmates in a secure facility. You will follow federal and state nutrition guidelines, maintain sanitation standards, and support daily meal production.

Training progresses from I to II with experience and supervisor review. Preferred candidates hold a high school diploma or GED and a ServSafe or equivalent certification, with the ability to work under supervision in a structured county kitchen

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade.
• Cook I requires 1 year cooking experience.
• Cook II requires 2 years relevant institutional cooking experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals to inmates following recipes and nutritional guidelines.
• Monitor kitchen sanitation and safety procedures.
• Coordinate kitchen activities to meet daily production demands.
• Assist in cafeteria operations and enforce portion control.
