Job summary

Suffolk County is seeking a Cook to perform routine cooking for large-scale meals in its correctional facilities under general supervision. The role includes supervising inmates and ensuring meals meet established menus prepared by the Jail Head Cook.

You will prepare meals for inmates and correctional personnel on a rotating schedule, with holidays. A high school diploma or GED and at least six months of large-scale food prep experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cooking in large-scale meal production at correctional facilities.
• Supervise inmates during meal preparation.
• Assist with menu planning under Jail Head Cook.

• Follow departmental policies and rotate schedule (5 Days On, 3 Days Off, 5 Days On, 2 Days Off) including holidays.
