Department Summary

The mission of the Ballmer Institute for Children's BehavioralHealth at the University of Oregon is to expand equitable access tobehavioral health support for children and families by trainingbehavioral health providers, advancing research, and strengtheningcommunity capacity. Our vision is to ensure that all children havethe support they need to thrive. To achieve this vision, theBallmer has launched the nation's first undergraduate program inchild behavioral health. This program lays the foundation for acredentialed bachelor's-level behavioral health profession groundedin evidence-based practices that will expand access to care andprovides a model that can be scaled nationally.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Assistant for the Executive Director,the Institute Support Specialist oversees all operations of theBallmer Institute Reception Desk providing high-level customerservice and general office support and is the firstpoint-of-contact in the Ballmer Institute. Customers primarily arefaculty, staff, and students but also includes external visitorssuch as prospective students, community members, legislators, amongothers.

The position will provide administrative coordination, managetimelines, execute related tasks, and see assignments through tocompletion. Some duties include but are not limited to: support forintitute leaders including scheduling and travel; management offront desk area; and support for the Community AdvisoryBoard.

Minimum Requirements
  • Two years of general clerical experience. One year of whichincluded typing, word processing, or other experience generatingdocuments; OR
  • An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology;OR
  • Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificatein Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of generalclerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology willsubstitute for the required experience on a year-for-yearbasis.

Professional Competencies
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and manage timeappropriately.
  • Ability to work well independently and also contribute as a teammember.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite required.
  • Familiarity with Canvas and website tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a higher education setting, preferably inan academic support, administrative, or faculty servicesrole.
