Job summary

The Salvation Army in Grand Rapids seeks instructors to teach Athletics, Recreation, Fine Arts, and Community Education. You will design programs, prepare lesson plans, present material, and manage classrooms to foster a safe, engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

• Appropriate prior experience teaching or working in the area of instruction specified; required.
• Certification or a degree in a related field or level of expertise is required.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Must be at least 18 years old
• A minimum of one year of experience teaching various or specific group exercise programs

Responsibilities

• Provide state-of-the-art and relevant instruction that contributes to each member's class/program goals.
• Develop and instruct fun, energetic, and highly motivational classes for all ages and skill levels.
• Implement safety measures for classes to ensure the health and safety of class participants.
• Maintain professional demeanor with students, staff and management.
• Communicate changes to class participants and coordinate with the program manager/coordinator.
• Carry out program evaluations as directed.
• Speak before groups with poise and enthusiasm.
• Create a safe, engaging learning environment for all participants.
• Develop and implement programs and classes toward desired outcomes and goals.
