Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time Recreation Instructor in Grand Rapids, Michigan. You will design and deliver programs across Athletics, Recreation, Fine Arts, and Community Education, preparing lesson plans and materials while maintaining safety and professionalism.

Responsibilities include teaching diverse groups, developing engaging classes, and collaborating with the program manager to schedule offerings.

Qualifications

Appropriate prior experience teaching or working in the area of instruction specified; required.
Certification or a degree in a related field or level of expertise is required.
Where applicable, must have up-to-date personal insurance prior to employment.
Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
Must be at least 18 years old
A minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching various or specific group exercise program’s

Responsibilities

Instruct students of all ages and ability levels in athletics, recreation, fine arts, and community education.
Design lesson plans and instructional materials; present subject matter with proper techniques.
Maintain safety measures to protect participants.
Develop engaging, energetic, and motivating classes for all levels.
Communicate with program manager/coordinator about class development and scheduling.
Create a safe, positive learning environment and provide feedback to participants.
