Job summary

The Salvation Army in Grand Rapids is seeking instructors to teach athletics, recreation, fine arts and community education to students of all ages. You will design instructional programs, prepare lesson plans, present material clearly, and manage classrooms with a focus on safety and engagement.

Ideal candidates have formal education in related fields or equivalent experience, strong organization and leadership skills, and the ability to communicate effectively in English.

Qualifications

• Must have strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• High school diploma or GED; related certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide state-of-the-art and relevant instruction that contributes to each member's class/program goals.
• Develop and instruct fun, energetic, and highly motivational classes for all ages and skill levels.
• Implement safety measures for classes to ensure health and safety of participants.
• Maintain professional demeanor with students, patrons, staff, and management.
• Communicate with the program manager/coordinator regarding class development and scheduling.
• Design instructional programs, prepare lesson plans and materials, and manage classrooms.
