Job summary

After School All-Stars LA is seeking an After School Program Leader for Bell Gardens, CA. This part-time role runs 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday, supporting a safe, enriching after-school program for youth.

You will supervise activities, maintain a 20:1 student ratio, collaborate with school staff, and help plan daily routines. Must have HS diploma or GED; college coursework or degree preferred; willingness to travel and work evenings.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students in grades K-12 in recreational, educational and/or community youth outreach setting.
• Ability to work cooperatively with School District staff, public officials, parents, and community leaders.
• Familiarity with quality criteria for after school programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively and respond to incidents calmly and quickly in emergencies.
• Must clear background checks and be able to pass health screenings.
• Fluency in a language other than English is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in planning and implementing the daily after-school program under supervision.
• Maintain a 20:1 student ratio through recruitment and retention strategies.
• Develop positive relationships with youth, guardians and school staff.
• Track attendance data and report program progress to the supervisor.
• Prepare supplies and create a productive learning environment.
• Ensure safe, engaging activities and supervise students at all times.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
• Travel to field trips and events as needed.

Education

Associate's degree or higher / two years of college
