Job summary

Sigma Earth is seeking an experienced hazardous waste specialist to ensure regulatory compliance and safe waste handling across multiple sites in Kentucky. You will coordinate shipments, label generation, and waste minimization efforts while serving as the primary contact for waste-related issues.

The role requires 2+ years in hazardous waste management, knowledge of applicable regulations, and a valid driver’s license. Strong communication and multitasking skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science preferred.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in hazardous waste management.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations applicable to Small and Large Quantity Generators.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to follow instructions and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with customers and stakeholders.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure health and safety remains the top priority by following all safe work practices, policies, and procedures at all times.
  • Oversee waste management activities across multiple waste-generating locations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for waste management and waste minimization-related issues.
  • Generate waste labels and ensure all containers are correctly marked and properly labeled.
  • Manage all aspects of waste shipment coordination from site to disposal facilities.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of service quality in waste handling operations.
  • Ensure all collected waste is stored, handled, and disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Monitor and ensure that no waste is stored beyond the permitted 90-day limit.
  • Conduct daily inspections of 90-day storage areas and pads during site visits.
  • Create waste profiles for new waste streams as required.
  • Prepare manifests and Land Disposal Restriction (LDR) documentation for waste shipments.
  • Review facility waste receiving reports to identify inconsistencies or potential issues.
  • Prepare and maintain required operational and compliance reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Familiarity with RCRA and OSHA regulations.
