Job summary

Veolia is seeking an on-site hazardous waste technician to provide safe and compliant waste management services. You will handle packing, labeling, manifesting, and shipping of waste as required by contracts, while maintaining strong client relations and safety standards.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED; a BS in Chemistry is preferred. Certification in HAZWOPER and the ability to obtain CDL licenses are highly valued, with on-the-job training provided.

Job Description

Position Purpose:

Responsible for providing on site hazardous and non-hazardous services to meet client environmental needs in accordance with state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. This position will work in a supervised and/or independent capacity to successfully, and safely, complete scheduled projects for customers. Responsibilities may include packing, labeling, manifesting, and shipping waste depending on contract type.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintain a professional image to clients by answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing and potential problems
• Manage on site customers hazardous and non hazardous waste needs per the contract
• Comply and enforce all environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures
• Ensure completion and accuracy of all DOT/RCRA/EPA paperwork to expedite disposal of hazardous waste as required
• Operate and maintain all equipment in a safe manner to insure optimum efficiency and effectiveness to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
• Knowledge and understanding of contract terms and possess the ability to follow through on assignments
• May help develop and train OS I and II personnel in required task as needed
• Other work related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education/Experience/Background:

• High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
• BS in Chemistry or a related science discipline preferred
• Prior work experience in the hazardous waste or related industry preferred
