The Pharmacist ensures the overall integrity, safety, rationality, and effectiveness of the drug use control process for all patients in the assigned geographic or specialty area, including the following patient groups: Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy required or obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy.
Experience REQUIRED: N/A
Experience PREFERRED:
Minimum of one (1) year of pharmacy practice experience in a similar setting.
Previous experience with state-of-the-art drug distribution, clinical service methods, and drug information sources and retrieval methods.
Education/training REQUIRED:
Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited academic program.
Education/training PREFERRED:
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited academic program.
Independent actions required:
Monitoring, screening, and verifying all drug-related orders for proper dosage, route, form, and schedule; ensuring expedited preparation and dispensing; resolving drug therapy problems; clarifying and correcting problematic orders; assigning tasks to pharmacy technicians; counseling patients on medication use; resolving operational issues.

Availability to work evenings, nights, and weekends.
