We are searching for a Staff Pharmacist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will promote pharmaceutical care by managing the medication process, identifying and preventing potential drug-related problems, and resolving actual drug-related problems. Additionally, you perform the duties of a registered pharmacist. All responsibilities will be performed in a manner developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served (0-adult).

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure medications meet the highest standards.
  • Participate in the education of patients, caregivers, and the community.
  • Support patient safety systems.
  • Check all available means of communication including e-mail, mailbox, and voicemail every shift.
  • Maintain the smooth operation of the pharmacy and act as a role model for technicians and other pharmacists, evidenced by the lack of complaints, medication incident reports, and peer reviews.
  • Maintain investigational drug records according to departmental policy.
  • Contribute to the medication management process.
  • Conduct discharge medication reviews (including prescription accuracy) and counseling, ensuring patients/caregivers understand their medication therapies upon discharge.
  • Participate in study initiation, maintenance, and closure.

As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Ph.D. in Pharmacy required.
  • RPH certification from the state of Texas required.
  • 2+ years hospital staff pharmacist experience preferred.
  • 20 hours of training in compounding sterile products accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education or the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists preferred.
