Job summary

StarCare Specialty Health System is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Nursing to lead the inpatient hospital team at Sunrise Canyon Hospital. The ADON will oversee Nursing and MHS services, promote safe, high-quality patient-centered care, and partner with leadership to meet Joint Commission standards.

The role emphasizes staffing optimization, staff development, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement in a 60-bed acute inpatient psychiatric facility.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure; BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year leadership/management experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years direct patient care in an acute care hospital; inpatient behavioral health or psychiatric experience preferred.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience overseeing services for individuals with psychiatric and behavioral health conditions.
• Experience leading teams in highly regulated healthcare environments (TJC, CMS, CARF).

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and oversight of Nursing and MHS operations, including planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care services.
• Foster a collaborative, service-oriented environment across internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with Nurse Practice Act, Joint Commission standards, CMS, CARF, and hospital policies.
• Monitor, assess, intervene, and evaluate patient care to promote positive outcomes and safety.
• Demonstrate leadership through supervision, coaching, and development of staff.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and recognition initiatives.
• Support organizational activities including Peer Review, Quality Assurance audits, and continuing education.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams for coordinated care and treatment planning.
• Serve on hospital committees and provide clinical and operational support to nursing staff.
