Job summary

Duke University Health System Clinical Laboratories is seeking a Phlebotomy Tech to perform routine and specialized blood collection in the inpatient setting at Duke University Hospital. This PRN weekend position requires strong patient communication and accurate specimen handling.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, phlebotomy training with clinical rotation, and phlebotomy certification or imminent eligibility; pediatric experience preferred; basic computer skills and

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience with at least 2 years as Clinical Tech I or certification required.
• Certification as a Phlebotomist by a national board/agency may be required.
• Pediatric phlebotomy experience preferred or required depending on assignment.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use hospital information systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection for inpatients.
• Prepare and process specimens and tests including labeling and routing.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper specimen tracking.
• Ensure patient safety, privacy, and professional communication with patients and staff.
• Operate Beaker and hospital information systems as part of workflow.
