Job summary

Duke Health's Clinical Laboratories at Duke Raleigh Hospital seeks a Clinical Technician to perform a variety of technical procedures for specimen procurement, processing, and evaluation. You will teach and perform routine clerical tasks, manage specimen collection, labeling, and ordering, and liaise with outside clients as a hospital representative.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED; phlebotomy training is recommended.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Phlebotomy training course with clinical rotation is recommended.
• Minimal CLIA requirements may be met by the employee for tasks performed.
• Basic knowledge of medical terms and basic computer skills is expected.
• Certification as a Phlebotomist is preferred for phlebotomy assignments.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory procedures.
• Prepare and initiate tests and specimen processing.
• Obtain and label urine specimens; manage sample volumes.
• Maintain patient identification and accurate laboratory records.
• Assist in orientation and training of new employees.
• May float to other locations or courier specimens as needed.
