Job summary

Duke University Health System Clinical Laboratories invites applications for a Clinical Technician role. The position supports procurement, processing, and evaluation of patient specimens, performing routine and specialized tests, and liaising with hospital staff and outside clients.

Evening shift available, with a focus on accuracy, safety, and efficient lab operations. Prior phlebotomy and lab experience preferred, with opportunities for professional growth within Duke Health.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or recommended phlebotomy training.
• Phlebotomy certification may be preferred for certain assignments.
• Basic computer skills and ability to use hospital information systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory procedures.
• Prepare and initiate tests including cytogenetics and urinalysis.
• Obtain and process specimens for analysis and dispatch.
• Maintain accurate records and labeling of specimens.
• Communicate professionally with patients and staff.
• Handle specimen storage and inventory control.
• Support routine clerical tasks and data entry as needed.
