Job summary

Froedtert Health in Wisconsin seeks a Pharmacy Intern to support clinical, distributive, and administrative duties within the hospital pharmacy. You will perform tasks under pharmacist supervision and progressively take on more responsibility as you demonstrate proficiency.

You will also assist in educating and training pharmacy interns and students, contributing to a structured orientation and competency development program. This on-site role emphasizes teamwork and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital pharmacy internship preferred.
• Must be accepted into a Doctor of Pharmacy program at a degree-granting institution.
• Must complete a competency checklist within 3 months of orientation and training.

Responsibilities

• Follow established policies and procedures while performing clinical, distributive, and administrative duties.
• Work under supervision of a pharmacist with increasing responsibility as competency grows.
• Assist in education and training of pharmacy interns and students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Shift: 4

Shift Details:

MCW & CUW: 1 weeknight shift every week and every other weekend (1st and 2nd shifts).

UW: Every third weekend (1st and 2nd shifts).

Holidays: 2 a year

Job Summary:

Following established policies and procedures, Pharmacy Intern performs a combination of clinical, distributive, and administrative duties. This individual is allowed to participate in any practice activity of a pharmacist, provided that such activity is under the supervision of a pharmacist. As the Intern progresses, and demonstrates an increase in ability, the preceptor will grant increased responsibility. This individual will also assist in the education and training of the pharmacy interns and students. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital pharmacy internship program preferred.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

Accepted into a doctor of pharmacy program at a degree granting institution.

TRAINING DESCRIPTION:

Must complete a competency checklist within 3 months of completing orientation and training sessions.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

Ability to communicate effectively with other health care professionals and patients. Ability to prioritize responsibilities in order to optimize patient care and minimize adverse outcomes. Ability to efficiently use the Epic pharmacy system to document medication histories, discharge teaching and other clinical interventions.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

Application for Wisconsin registration as a Pharmacy Technician is required by hire date and must be obtained within 12 months of hire. Staff hired into this role prior to 3/31/23 must have applied for Wisconsin registration by 3/31/23 and have until 3/31/24 to obtain registration.
