Job summary

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington (PIW) is part of Universal Health Services, a leading behavioral health provider in the Washington, DC area. This part-time Mental Health Tech role supports patients, collaborating with nurses and therapists to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.

You will assist with daily activities, participate in milieu management, and help implement treatment programs under the multidisciplinary team guidance.

Qualifications

• Success in this role comes from compassion and empathy, strong communication skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Preferred: experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, healthcare, residential, or direct care; Bachelor's degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and supervision to patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting.
• Assist with maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
• Observe patient behaviors and communicate relevant changes to the clinical team.
• Support patients with daily activities and treatment programming.
• Participate in therapeutic activities and milieu management.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, and other members of the treatment team.
• Follow hospital safety, documentation, and patient-care procedures.
