Job summary

Medasource, partnering with a regional health system, is hiring an Inpatient Medical Coder for a fully remote contract opportunity.

You will handle high-acuity inpatient cases across cardiology, neurology, surgery, transplants, NICU, and more, coding diagnoses and procedures with Epic EHR and 3M encoder.

Requires at least three years of inpatient coding, CCS/RHIT/RHIA considered, and a strong multi-specialty background; start ASAP for a 6-month engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years inpatient coding experience.
• Strong multi-specialty inpatient coding background.
• Experience in academic medical center or trauma facility preferred.
• Proficiency with Epic EHR and 3M encoder.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate inpatient coding across a wide range of specialties, including: Cardiology, Neurology, Surgical cases, Transplants, NICU, and other complex inpatient cases.
• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and industry standards.
• Maintain timely and accurate coding in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Consistently meet established productivity and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate inpatient coding across a wide range of specialties, including: Cardiology, Neurology, Surgical cases, Transplants, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Additional complex inpatient cases
• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and industry standards
• Maintain timely and accurate coding in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Consistently meet established productivity and quality expectations

Qualifications

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification preferred; RHIT or RHIA credentials will also be considered
• Minimum of three years of inpatient coding experience
• Strong multi-specialty inpatient coding background
• Experience working within an academic medical center or trauma facility preferred
• Proficiency with Epic EHR
• Experience using the 3M encoder
