Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff in coordinating inpatient care for patients in stable condition. Under RN supervision, you will perform basic nursing procedures, document care in the EMR, assist with admissions, discharges and transfers, and participate in safety and quality initiatives.

This role requires strong time management, attention to patient dignity, and teamwork on a busy unit.

Qualifications

HS/GED required and basic nursing support skills.
Experience as PCA/PCT/NA/LPN/EMT or in related roles preferred.
One year of experience in acute or long-term care or currently in nursing program.
Proficient with phlebotomy and straight catheterization.
Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

Provides and documents direct patient care and activities such as ADLs, vitals, specimen collection, EKG, glucose testing, I&O, mobility protocols.
Participates in quality initiatives and bedside shift reports, rounding, safety and cleanliness, precepts newly hired staff.
Documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimens and treatments; reports changes to nursing staff.
Participates in unit activities such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
