Allegheny Health Network seeks a Medical Records Coder responsible for review and abstraction to assign ICD-10 codes for diagnoses and procedures, supporting accurate billing and cash flow.

The role requires 1 year of hospital coding experience, CCS or CIC certification (or eligible), strong medical terminology knowledge, and proficiency with coding software and data entry in a team-oriented hospital setting. This on-site position offers stable hours within a collaborative health system.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• 1 year hospital coding experience.
• Completion of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology coding courses.
• CCS certification or CIC certification (or eligible).
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong data entry skills.
• Proficiency with computer applications.
• Ability to work with health care team.
• Preferred: Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field.

Responsabilités

• Review and interpret medical information to assign ICD codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract data elements for statistical requests and enter into designated system.
• Manage unbilled coding report for cash flow.
• Stay updated on ICD guideline changes through training and resources.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
