Job summary

Omega Healthcare Management Services is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to review medical records and assign accurate diagnoses and procedures for inpatient, outpatient, and professional services. This remote role requires AHIMA or AAPC certification and 2–4 years of coding experience, with strict adherence to coding guidelines and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Must have completed an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program.
• Minimum of two to four years of current production coding experience in inpatient and professional services.
• Credentials: CPC, COC, CIC, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P.

Responsibilities

• Abstract, code, sequence and interpret clinical information from inpatient, outpatient, ED, pro fee and clinical records.
• Assign correct principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures with proper sequencing.
• Apply coding guidelines and DRG/APC expertise for accurate coding.
• Abstract and code data into multiple software programs/encoders; follow AHIMA/AMA/CMS guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state/federal regulations, and client requirements.
• Extract pertinent data for reports and billing documents; assign codes to reporting systems.
• Track productivity; maintain quality targets (e.g., 95% rating).
• Maintain security and confidentiality of patient records per policy.
