Qualifications

• Inpatient coding knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and AHIMA guidelines.
• Experience or completion of Houston Methodist Coding Apprentice Program.
• ABET/CAHIIM accredited education preferred.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Interact with coding team and stakeholders to ensure accurate codes.
• Participate in coding meetings and education sessions; share knowledge.
• Respond to requests to code or review accounts for accuracy.
• Query physicians to obtain/clarify diagnoses/procedures per policy.
• Maintain coding quality and adhere to AHIMA standards.
