The coder will abstract data into 3M Encoder and Epic, ensuring accuracy, timely submission, and collaboration with the Clinical Documentation Integrity Team to support quality reporting and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Reviews low to moderate complex medical records to assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes.
• Abstracts selected data items and enters in 3M encoder/Epic with accuracy.
• Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by AHIMA.

Responsibilities

• Reviews low to moderate complex medical records to assign ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes according to guidelines.
• Coding Technical Skills—ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRGs, APR DRGs, ROM, SOI, and POA assignment.
• Understands CCs, MCCs, HCCs and their impact on quality reporting, HACs and PSIs.
• Maintains productivity and quality within established standards.
• Works within UH billing time frames.
• Maintains coding knowledge via resources and webinars; stays current with AHIMA guidelines.
