Job summary

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a compassionate Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) for a part-time role in Laurel Run, PA. The BHT will provide direct support, supervision, and a structured therapeutic environment within inpatient behavioral health and substance use treatment programs.

Responsibilities include patient safety checks, monitoring, crisis response, and assisting with admissions, activities, and daily routines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum age 21; valid driver license if driving is assigned.
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, or mental health settings preferred.
• Detoxification/residential care experience preferred.
• Behavioral health certification or related education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient supervision and safety checks.
• Monitor patient behavior and environment; document observations and report concerns.
• Respond to crises using de-escalation techniques and follow emergency protocols.
• Ensure adherence to facility rules while maintaining a therapeutic approach.
• Measure vital signs and perform CLIA-waived testing when trained.
• Supervise medication self-administration where permitted.
• Support admissions, discharges, patient movement, and activities.
• Maintain professional, supportive interactions and refer concerns to staff.
• Coordinate with clinical, nursing, medical, and operations teams.
• Assist with patient transportation and daily facility operations.
