Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• At least 1 year direct patient care or administrative experience.
• Experience with bed management, scheduling, or discharge coordination is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor bed availability and use bed management systems to identify beds and anticipate discharges.
• Assign patients to appropriate beds based on medical condition, acuity, and care needs.
• Coordinate patient transfers, discharges, and updates on bed availability with nursing and ancillary staff.
• Track metrics of patient flow, bed utilization, and wait times to identify improvements.
• Assist with staffing and operations of the flex unit.
• Perform bed placement functions to maintain efficient inpatient flow.
• Monitor morgue capacity and coordinate with funeral homes and the coroner for timely removals.
• Initiate death certificates in EVITALS and liaise with relevant personnel for completion.
• Utilize scheduling capabilities in the staffing office and provide education to Directors and Supervisors on scheduling.
• Maintain clerical supplies within the department budget.
