Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a detail‑oriented Bed Management Coordinator to join our 24/7 Mission Control. This role manages patient transfer intake, bed planning, and placement to ensure safe, timely bed assignments across the hospital system.

You will collaborate with Transfer Center teams, track bed occupancy, support admissions, discharges, and transfers, and update bed-tracking systems in real time. A background in hospital operations and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of relevant experience in hospital operations, patient flow, bed management, or related administrative/clinical support role.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across clinical and non-clinical teams.

Responsibilities

• Assign patients to appropriate beds based on clinical needs, acuity, and available capacity, ensuring timely placement across hospital units.
• Collaborates with MC Enterprise Flow Nurse & Transfer Flow Nurse to ensure assignment of beds are clinically appropriate.
• Continuously track and monitor bed occupancy, adjusting assignments as necessary to support admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Manage administrative duties related to patient transfers, collaborating with nursing teams, unit leaders, and the Transfer Center Flow Nurse to facilitate safe and efficient patient movement.
