Job summary

The Ellen O'Brien Gaiser Addiction Center in Pennsylvania is seeking an entry-level Drug & Alcohol Counselor Assistant to support intake, assessments, and case management under supervision. This full-time role provides hands-on training with experienced counselors in a nonprofit treatment setting.

You will facilitate individual and group sessions, prepare treatment plans and notes, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of addiction treatment
• Some knowledge of individual and group therapy in addiction treatment
• Ability to maintain professional client charts
• Must adhere professional ethical standards and maintain professional boundaries with clients
• Candidate must meet Commonwealth PA DOH qualifications for counselor assistant (masters/bachelors RN or higher), or GED/high school
• Counselor assistant must complete training requirements and may handle full caseload upon supervisor approval

Responsibilities

• Performs client intakes, assessments and evaluations
• Facilitates individual and group therapy
• Performs case management for clients
• Writes group and individual notes
• Prepares client treatment plans and treatment plan updates
• Prepares client discharge summaries and aftercare plan
• Participates in all clinical staffing and presents client summaries
• Provides crisis interventions
• Reviews client progress with funding sources
• Maintains professional relationships with referral sources
• Performs all required agency, county, and state documentation
• Performs other related job duties as required
