Job summary

The Ellen O'Brien Gaiser Addiction Center in Pennsylvania seeks an entry-level Drug & Alcohol Counselor Assistant who will work with seasoned counselors to develop skills in intake, assessments and therapy within an inpatient program.

You will perform case management, document notes, and help prepare treatment plans under direct supervision as part of your training path. This role follows either a Tue–Sat or Sun–Thu schedule and pays $20.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in a human service field or RN licensure.
• Knowledge of addiction treatment and therapy modalities required.
• Ability to maintain professional client charts and uphold ethics and boundaries.
• Must meet PA DOH staffing qualifications for counselor assistant as outlined by PA.
• Training requirements must be completed with supervisor assessment.

Responsibilities

• Performs client intakes, assessments and evaluations.
• Facilitates individual and group therapy.
• Performs case management for clients.
• Writes group and individual notes.
• Prepares client treatment plans and updates.
• Prepares discharge summaries and aftercare plans.
• Participates in clinical staffing and presents client summaries.
• Provides crisis interventions.
• Reviews client progress with funding sources.
• Maintains professional relationships with referral sources.
• Performs all required agency, county, and state documentation.
• Performs other related duties as required.
