Job summary

Consor in Houston, TX is seeking a Drainage Design Engineer to plan, analyze, and design drainage infrastructure for transportation projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and senior engineers.

You will perform hydrologic analyses, develop plans and reports, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards while growing technical expertise in stormwater management and flood risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• 5–10 years of transportation drainage experience with TxDOT projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Proficiency in MicroStation ORD, AutoCad, and Civil3D software.
• Proposal writing/marketing experience is a plus.
• Hybrid office/field environment with occasional weather exposure and physical demands.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review drainage design plans, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, and technical reports for transportation projects.
• Apply drainage design standards to ensure accuracy, compliance, and constructability in stormwater and roadway drainage designs.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, storm sewer and culvert sizing, drainage modeling, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs for assigned projects.
• Utilize hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software to evaluate drainage performance, assess flood risk, and develop stormwater solutions.
• Coordinate with roadway, structural, environmental, and other teams, clients and reviewing agencies to integrate drainage requirements into project design.
• Assist with quality assurance reviews, address drainage-related design comments, and provide technical support during plan development and reviews.
