Job summary

Ombudsman Educational Services seeks a Special Education Teacher to join our Alternative Education team. This role is crucial for empowering students with diverse learning needs in an innovative environment.

Starting salary is $60,000 to $80,000 per year based on experience. With responsibilities including delivering personalized instruction and managing IEPs, the position also requires creating an inclusive environment that ensures mutual respect.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education or a closely related field of study.
• Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining IL professional educator (PEL) credential.
• Prior experience working with curriculum development and differentiation.

Responsibilities

• Create an inclusive, collaborative environment involving students, parents, and colleagues.
• Establish a classroom climate built on mutual respect and clear expectations.
• Implement and reinforce school-wide behavior expectations and strategies.
• Track and document student progress, maintaining accurate student files.
• Deliver differentiated and targeted instruction individually or collaboratively.
• Adapt curricular content to accommodate diverse learning styles of students.
• Utilize varied instructional methods and educational software.
• Manage student caseload responsibilities including IEPs.
• Prepare detailed daily lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment.
