Job summary

Pearson seeks a Specialist to develop K-12 assessments for state and district clients within the Content Development team. You will act as a content and assessment expert, using AI tools to enhance item development and review across grade levels.

You will collaborate with educators and Pearson teams to ensure standards-based, accessible assessments, and you may lead writers and educators to create high-quality content.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, content-specific area, or equivalent experience required.
• Five years’ experience as an elementary or secondary teacher in the field of content-specific area preferred.
• Professional knowledge of content-specific area and educational trends required.
• Some experience in large-scale, educational measurement preferred.
• General knowledge of all phases of development, processing, scoring, and reporting of large-scale assessments preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence in AI-supported content development, or strong potential to leverage AI in content creation.
• Experience or familiarity with prompting, refining, and evaluating AI-generated content for education purposes.
• Skill in basic software tools and technology and the confidence to work with unfamiliar programs.
• Demonstrated interest in learning about and adapting to new AI technologies as they evolve.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills
• Ability to creatively and flexibly address challenges with a variety of audiences
• Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work on multiple activities and adapt to unexpected events

Responsibilities

• Develop and review content-specific test items across grade levels for large-scale assessments.
• Help develop item, passage, and test specifications and blueprints.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to support content accuracy and accessibility.
• Collaborate to integrate AI-generated assets in assessment workflows.
• Help select, assign, manage, and train item/passage writers and educators.
• Support customer meetings with content assessment expertise.
• Assist in test construction and review of test forms.
• Consult with customers in planning and status meetings.
• Work with test development managers, content developers, psychometricians, and Pearson groups.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies in content creation and assessment.
