Job summary

Hasbro's Wizards of the Coast is seeking an Innovation Designer for New Player Growth in Renton, WA. This role blends physical, digital, and experiential design to welcome new players into Magic and related products.

You will prototype concepts, run playtests, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to move ideas from discovery to launch. Hybrid schedule with onsite Tue–Thu and flexible Mon/Fri.

Qualifications

• Experience in game design, product design, UX design, innovation, or related field.
• Portfolio showing iterative concept development and testing.
• Ability to create prototypes that communicate ideas and gather feedback.
• Graphic design skills for clear visual presentations and prototypes.
• Experience presenting ideas to cross‑functional teams and leaders.
• Understanding of game systems, player motivation, and learning design.
• Experience working with partners across creative, technical, research, and business disciplines.
• Clear communication and ability to share design visions.
• Knowledge or passion for Magic: The Gathering is a plus.
• Empathy for new players and curiosity about barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

• Design and prototype new physical, digital, and connected products.
• Apply game design principles to develop gameplay concepts and learning experiences.
• Explore product forms and occasions to introduce Magic to new audiences.
• Improve onboarding-focused products to be welcoming and easy to use.
• Turn needs into testable concepts, prototypes, and pilot experiences.
• Plan and facilitate playtests and incorporate feedback.
• Design experiences that help new players feel capable and engaged.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements.
• Establish learning goals and use data to guide decisions.
• Present concepts and findings to cross‑functional teams and senior leaders.
• Evaluate products after launch and recommend onboarding improvements.
