Qualifications

  • Experience: One year of experience in reviewing, verifying and interpreting information for compliance with laws, regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, verifies and interprets information to determine and resolve problems involving calculations of prison sentences according to State laws and department policies.
  • Creates and maintains manual and electronic commitment records using court orders and detention records.
  • Adjusts time calculations with credits for good conduct, education, work, and other credits as applicable.
  • Researches procedures, COMAR, and state codes to document and follow release-date calculations.
  • Accesses criminal records using state and national offender systems to calculate sentences.
  • Prepares and reviews release paperwork and notices for court proceedings and related parties.
  • Explains inmate sentence calculations and release dates to judges, attorneys, parole officers, and families.
