Job summary

The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services is seeking an Education Employment Specialist on a contractual basis to work in Baltimore, MD. The role involves developing Employment and Education Plans for incarcerated and recently released students, coordinating with correctional and community partners, and ensuring data reporting for grants.

Frequent work inside correctional facilities and meetings with community-based organizations are required.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.
• Substitution: 30 college credit hours may substitute for the required experience.
• Substitution: U.S. Armed Forces military service as a commissioned officer may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Develop Employment and Education Plans with incarcerated and recently released students.
• Coordinate with correctional staff, collateral agencies, and community-based organizations to advocate for participant resources and services.
• Disseminate information and provide post-release follow-up and wrap-around services.
• Compile and interpret participant data for Higher Education and Occupational training programs as reporting for BJA DPSCS grants.
• Maintain detailed records of education and training programs in prisons.
