Job summary

The Florida Department of Corrections seeks a CORRECTIONAL SENTENCE SPECIALIST-SES at Avon Park Correctional Institution in the Classification department. This SES role reports to the Classification unit and focuses on accurate release planning and recordkeeping.

Responsibilities include verifying tentative release dates, preparing release documents, maintaining inmate records, and coordinating court appearances and inter-state detainer actions, with emphasis on compliance and staff training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred supervisory experience and data analysis skills.
• Experience with Word/Excel/PowerPoint is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Verify and calculate tentative release dates in line with commitments and statutes.
• Prepare release documents and verify final release dates and authorizations.
• Maintain accurate inmate data in the information system and train new staff.
• Manage daily inmate records: cell changes, assignments, disciplinary actions, and sentence changes.
• Prepare affidavits, testify in court, coordinate inter-state detainer actions, and supervise file transfers.
