Job summary

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction seeks a General Activities Therapist to plan, implement and monitor recreation and therapeutic activities for inmates in Chillicothe. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, assess needs and document progress, while maintaining safety and order in a correctional setting.

Responsibilities include leading activities, supervising program delivery, and coordinating with staff.

Qualifications

• 30 mos. exp. with coaching, personal training, or fitness instruction or 30 mos. exp. directing incarcerated persons training or development.
• Associate degree in recreation with 12 mos. exp. in activity therapy or recreation.
• Undergraduate core program in recreation with 6 mos. exp. in activity therapy or recreation.
• 6 mos. exp. as General Activities Therapist 1, 44211.
• Equivalent of the minimum qualifications noted above.

Responsibilities

• Plans, conducts, implements and monitors general recreation, personal development, structured therapeutic and entertainment activities for inmates.
• Analyses and recommends group or individual treatment goals and activities as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• In instructional capacity for inmates.
• Prepares and maintains work-related documentation and reports.
• Performs security functions as required.
• Attends meetings and training sessions and maintains clean, safe work areas.
• Manages storage, issuance and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
• Performs job and fixture set-up and relieves supervisor when needed.
