Job summary

State of Ohio - Rehabilitation & Correction - Mansfield Correctional Institution is seeking a Recreation/Activities Therapist to run structured therapeutic and recreational programs for inmates. The role collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to plan goals and document progress, while ensuring safety and compliance within a secured setting.

The position requires experience in coaching or activity therapy, an associate or equivalent in recreation, and a willingness to support rehabilitation

Qualifications

• 30 months of experience with coaching, personal training, or fitness instruction.
• 30 months of experience providing work direction to incarcerated persons and training/ development.
• Or completion of associate degree in recreation; 12 months exp. in activity therapy or recreation.
• Or completion of undergraduate core program in recreation; 6 months exp. in activity therapy or recreation.

Responsibilities

• Plans, conducts, implements and monitors general recreation, personal development, structured therapeutic and entertainment activities for inmates.
• Serves as member of interdisciplinary team and analyzes, assesses, evaluates, defines and recommends group and/or individual treatment goals and activities.
• Serves in instructional capacity for inmates.
• Prepares and maintains work related documentation and reports.
• Performs security functions as required.
• Participates in meetings, trainings, and maintains clean, safe work areas.
• Responsible for storage, issuance and maintenance of supplies; pickups and deliveries.
• Performs job and fixture set-up.
• Relieves supervisor in absence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
