Job summary

State of Ohio, Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility, is seeking a General Activities Therapist 2 to plan, organize and conduct activity programs for youth in residential treatment. You will lead and coordinate individual and group recreation and therapy activities, aiming to expand youth knowledge, skills, and fitness.

Qualifications

• 30 months of experience with coaching, personal training, or fitness instruction.
• 30 months of experience providing work direction to incarcerated persons and training and development.
• Completion of an associate degree in recreation; 12 months experience in activity therapy or recreation.
• Completion of undergraduate core program in recreation; 6 months experience in activity therapy or recreation.
• 6 months experience as General Activities Therapist 1, 44211 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize and conduct activity programs for youth assigned to residential treatment units.
• Organize and conduct individual or group recreation and activity therapy activities.
• Instruct youth in leisure and therapeutic activities to expand knowledge, skills and fitness.
• Prepare progress notes and reports for youth records; participate in treatment meetings.
• Coordinate community service projects and supervise youth workers.
• Ensure safety and proper storage of equipment; supervise group activities.
