Job summary

State of Ohio is seeking a General Activities Therapist to plan and supervise recreational and therapeutic activities for inmates. You will work with an interdisciplinary team, formulate goals, observe progress, and maintain thorough reports.

Responsibilities include security functions and supply management, with opportunities for training and advancement. The role emphasizes instruction, documentation, and coordination of activities while ensuring safe, clean work areas and adherence to program

Qualifications

• 30 months of experience with coaching, personal training, or fitness instruction, or 30 months of experience providing work direction to incarcerated persons with training and/or development.
• Associate degree in recreation or 12 months of activity therapy or recreation.
• Undergraduate core program in recreation with 6 months of activity therapy or recreation.
• 6 months of experience as General Activities Therapist 1, 44211.
• Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

• Plan, conducts, implements and monitors general recreation, personal development, structured therapeutic and entertainment activities for inmates.
• Serve as member of interdisciplinary team and analyze, assess, evaluate and define treatment goals and activities.
• Observe participants during activities.
• Serve in instructional capacity for inmates.
• Prepare and maintain work-related documentation and reports for the treatment team.
• Perform security functions as required (e.g., man-down, shakedown, inmate movement).
• Attend meetings and trainings and perform related tasks and maintain clean, safe work areas.
• Responsible for storage, issuance and maintenance of supplies; pick up and deliver production goods.
• Perform job and fixture set-up and relieve supervisor in absence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
