Job summary

The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in Mansfield is seeking a Recreation Therapist to run therapy, recreation and personal development activities for inmates. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, planning goals and documenting progress.

Responsibilities include leading structured activities, supervising safety, managing supplies, and coordinating with treatment staff to support rehabilitation and reduce recidivism.

Qualifications

• 30 mos. exp. with coaching, personal training, &/or fitness instruction or 30 mos. exp. providing work direction to incarcerated persons & training &/or development.
• Or completion of associate degree in recreation; 12 mos. exp. in activity therapy or recreation.
• Or completion of undergraduate core program in recreation; 6 mos. exp. in activity therapy or recreation.
• Or 6 mos. exp. as General Activities Therapist 1, 44211.

Responsibilities

• Plans, conducts, implements and monitors general recreation, personal development, structured therapeutic and entertainment activities for inmates.
• Serves as member of interdisciplinary team and analyzes, assesses, evaluates, defines and recommends group and/or individual treatment goals and activities.
• Serves in instructional capacity for inmates.
• Prepares and maintains work related documentation and records.
• Performs security functions as required and participates in meetings and training sessions.
• Responsible for storage, issuance and maintenance of supplies; handles production goods.
• Performs job and fixture set-up.
• Relieves supervisor in his/her absence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
