Job summary

City of Hampton is seeking a Local Inmate Data System (LIDS) Technician to maintain accurate, complete, and timely inmate records for the Hampton Sheriff's Office detention facility. You will ensure compliance with state reporting requirements, laws, and policies while performing data entry and data integrity tasks under supervision.

The role requires attention to confidential information, strong data entry skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or GED; an associate degree or coursework in business administration, CIS, criminal justice, or related field preferred.
Combination of relevant coursework and experience demonstrating proficiency in records management, data entry, and computer system operations.

Responsibilities

Maintain accurate inmate records and data systems.
Enter and verify intake, release, and population data for reporting.
Conduct VCIN/NCIC checks and support inmate release processes.
Calculate inmate sentences and ensure correct time computations.
Prepare documentation for transfers, releases, and court updates.
Perform audits and data comparisons to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Assist law enforcement, courts, and the public with inmate information requests.
Generate monthly reports and support state reimbursement tracking.
